I’m now reading Democrats favor Joe Biden choosing Kamala Harris for VP over other candidates.
According to the panel conducted by Monmouth University, Democratic voters preferences were as follows: Note: The numbers are on page 4 of the PDF.
Kamala Harris: 28%
Elizabeth Warren 13%
Amy Klobuchar 12%
Stacey Abrams 10%
Val Demings 7%
Kamala Harris is also a top pick by Democrats regardless of who they voted for in the primary (with the exception of Sanders voters). She is favored by 33% of Biden voters, 33% of Buttigieg voters, 33% of Bloomberg voters, 28% of Warren voters, and 27% of Amy Klobuchar voters. Sanders voters prefer Warren as their top pick for VP.
The Forbes article notes this represents a change since back in April when polls showed most Democrats favored Elizabeth Warren.
In the past week, it was announced that Joe Biden had narrowed his list to about six main candidates — Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, Susan Rice, Keisha Lance Bottoms, Val Demings, and Michelle Lujan Grisham but was open to others.
In other news, NBC has reported Amy Klobuchar called Joe Biden last night and withdrew from VP consideration informing him she believes he should choose a woman of color instead.
Joe Biden plans to announce his VP pick around August 1st. Biden has indicated he wants someone who will be honest with him, tell him when they don’t agree, someone who complements him, someone who has strengthens he doesn’t, and someone qualified to be President on day one.
I also think it’s possible Joe Biden will not run for re-election in 2024 due to his age, and that his VP pick is a possible or probable 2024 nominee. So this is a long term investment.
Our 2024 nominee will probably run against a Trump Republican- Tom Cotton, Josh Hawley, Don Jr. or Nikki Haley.
